When you are buying new luggage, it’s a good idea to read luggage reviews before making your purchase, rather than simply heading to the nearest store, and buying luggage bags on sale. With the wealth of information on the internet, it’s easy to find reviews of almost any product you could possibly think of.
The main benefit of reading luggage reviews is that you learn about not only the positive aspects of the product, but also the things that consumers are not too thrilled about.

Many luggage manufacturers will post testimonials that portray their products in the best possible light, but it’s not very often that you’ll find reviews or testimonials highlighting any flaws or problems (even minor ones). Many of the benefits of the product are touted, but you’ll hardly find any negative information. So, luggage manufacturers’ sites are not the best place to go to for an objective review.

If you plan to spend more on your new luggage then it’s even more important that you read a luggage review written by an owner of the brand, rather than simply going by the information provided on the luggage company’s web site.

In general, the review that would provide you with the most value is one from an actual product owner that has paid for and used the product. A good and honest luggage review can often tip the scales in favor of you not buying, especially if the negative aspects highlighted in the review are important to you.

One of the things you should look at when reading a luggage review is how sturdy certain things are with a particular brand. No matter how well the bag endures frequent travel, the handle may not be comfortable after being held for a few hours, or the zipper may come apart at the seam, if you over stuff the bag. If you’re traveling in winter, how well the wheels on any wheeled suitcase move if they happen to be dragged through the snow might be important to you.

Consumer Search is a great place to find reviews on most consumer products (including luggage reviews).

Even if you’re not sure about which brand to go for, the luggage reviews and information at the above site should help you make a more informed buying decision.

Everyone, at one point or another, has been worried about how safe their luggage and its contents are. Because theft is extremely common, it is crucial that you protect your belongings. Isn’t that the reason that we have locks for our luggage? Yes. However, if your luggage is spot checked by airport security, they may very well cut the lock right off your luggage, thus leaving it unlocked and vulnerable for the rest of the trip. Therefore, it would behoove you to spend a little more money and purchase TSA luggage locks.

I know it is difficult to think about, but please consider that your belongings will be much safer when protected by TSA luggage locks. Normal locks are destroyed and cannot be replaced on the luggage when airport security is through with them. TSA luggage locks can easily be opened by airport security and then relocked to protect the luggage from loss or theft. For this reason, these locks are the most highly recommended by seasoned travelers and airport authorities.

How it Works

Airport officials recognize the TSA luggage locks’ logo. They will know that they can easily gain access into the bag without damaging the lock. After searching your luggage, they can relock it using the same TSA luggage locks that were there originally on your luggage. You will know by the security window on the lock, that will either be colored red or green, whether someone has had access to the contents of your luggage.

Green indicates that the lock has not been opened or tampered with, while red indicates that the lock has been opened, even though it may have been relocked. This feature will alert you to the fact that airport security has rummaged through your bag. It’s good to know that, should airport security have to search your bag; although, they should leave a paper notification in your bag to let you know that they had searched it. Logically, TSA luggage locks are the only kind of locks that should be used when traveling.

With either of those two non-traditional looks, you will be able to see your suitcase as it rounds the bend. No worrying about whether or not you will be able to differentiate it from all the brown and tan choices surrounding it.

Inside the attractive bag are all sorts of clever designs that make this bag functional as well as handsome. The removable garment sleeve that folds up in thirds is a great way to pack hanging items, so if you are going to a wedding, your nicer clothes can travel in style, or that suit for your business meeting can remain nicely pressed.

The nylon weave has a Teflon coating that helps keep your clothes protected in the event of a summer shower, so you will not have to worry about your clothes getting all wet inside a “cloth” soft-sided bag, and you still get to have the luxury of a quality piece of luggage that is lightweight so your back doesn’t ache the way it sometimes does when you have to lug a heavier bag around the terminal. The Teflon also helps prevents stains, so not only do your clothes stay nice, so does your suitcase. Inside the durable, water-resistant Victorinox Werks Traveler 2.0 24″ Deluxe Expandable Wheeled Travel Bag is a plastic frame that looks like honeycomb, and that simple feature makes sure that your bag is durable without weighing a ton.

If all those quality ideas weren’t enough, Victorinox deserves a special round of applause for the mesh packing cubes that come right along with this perfectly designed bag. They are removable, and you would be amazed at just how handy these simple cubes are. They are just right for packing smaller items and keeping them within easy reach, so there is no digging through all your clothes just to find the Chap Stick.

The Victorinox Werks Traveler 2.0 24″ Deluxe Expandable Wheeled Travel Bag is an affordable way to step out in style.

Rules for Carry on Luggage

Rules for carry on luggage are changing all the time. Each time a new security incident happens on a plane, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) adjusts the rules for carry on luggage accordingly. One of the most recent changes that happened has to do with liquids. Apparently, certain liquids can be used to make explosives in-flight. Thanks to some people who actually tried that, all liquids are now seriously restricted in carry on luggage.

Under the new TSA guidelines concerning liquids, a wide range of things fall under the “liquid” restrictions. This includes creams and gels, as well. This means that such things as shampoo, moisturizer, shaving cream, and toothpaste are restricted in carry on luggage. This isn’t to say you can’t bring these things on the plane at all. They just have to be in containers of three ounces or less, and all of the containers have to be packed together in one quart-sized zip-lock bag. You’ll have to take that bag out of your suitcase at the security check-point for additional inspections.

Bottled water is no longer allowed past the security check-point, either. If you have it, you’ll have to get rid of it before going through the line. However, if the airport you’re visiting has a concession stand beyond the security check-point, you can buy water there to carry on the plane.

A lot of food falls under the category of liquids, as well. So, if you’re bringing home any kind of special jams or jellies (or even salsa) from your vacation, it has to go in your checked baggage, unless it’s in a three ounce container. In fact, there are very few exceptions to this three ounce rule. Most of the exceptions involve baby supplies, such as breast milk, teething cream and formula. Liquid prescription medicines are also allowed on board in amounts greater than three ounces. However, these all have to be declared and inspected under the new rules for carry on luggage.

The new rules for carry on luggage don’t have to be a hardship for you. If you learn what they are, you’ll know how to pack correctly for your trip and save yourself (and everyone behind you in line) a lot of time at the security check-point at the airport. The best rule of thumb is simply to store all liquids, creams, and gels in your checked baggage, unless it’s something you absolutely can’t do without for the duration of your flight.

Traveling abroad with your children can be great fun. Before leaving on your trip, there are numerous matters to attend to. The first thing to do is to obtain all necessary documents. If you are planning to visit a foreign country, each member of your family needs appropriate travel documents. Secondly, you will beat the rush when you book your trip well in advance. The third thing that you must do is purchase child luggage for your children. No, it is not a good idea to include your children’s belongings in your own luggage. Every one of your children needs separate luggage that can be taken with them during the entire vacation. The following tips will help you find the appropriate child luggage.

Shopping For Child Luggage

You will have to take the age of your child into consideration when shopping for child luggage. You should also understand that the preferences of small children are different compared to older kids. Your child does not really need elaborate luggage if he or she is younger than 8 years old; a small backpack or small rolling suitcase will suffice. If you have a child older than 8 years of age, you may think about purchasing him/her a larger duffle bag or backpack, and also possibly a rolling suitcase. Rolling suitcases are nice because they can easily be dragged across pavements.

Functionality, design, and color should also be considered when shopping for child luggage. Functionality is the most important thing here. All of your kid’s stuff should be able to fit in a good piece of luggage. It should also have pockets where your child can store snacks and drinks, for easy access.
Younger children prefer bright colored luggage featuring their favorite cartoon character when it comes to the design and color of the luggage. When deciding what child luggage to purchase, check with your child to find out if he/she has a favorite cartoon character or color.

However, older children have other desires, like dotted designs, fire designs, just about anything graphically inclined. Be advised though, teenagers prefer to match their belongings. In order to avoid arguments with your teenager over the luggage that he or she will bring on your trip abroad, it’s a good idea to have them select the luggage themselves.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to be a little (or maybe a lot !) fashionable when it comes to luggage, you’re surely looking for something stylish and classy. One of the luxury luggage brands you have probably considered is the internationally recognized and highly renowned Louis Vuitton line of luggage. But unless you’re looking to burn a huge hole in your pocket, you want designer Louis Vuitton luggage that is not just stylish and fashionable, but also cheap and affordable. 🙂 In this blog post, you will learn how to avoid the pitfalls you might encounter in your search for cheap Louis Vuitton luggage.

The word “cheap” should really be used loosely when talking about designer goods. Someone who bought a $2500 designer luggage piece might sell it to you second-hand for $1500. This is definitely a very good deal when compared to the original price, but not if you’re looking to save money. If you desire to buy designer luggage, but are restricted by your budget, my advice is to adjust your personal spending habits to save money and purchase the piece without landing into debt.

First off, you need to know that the original designer luggage is sold only at these places :

The official Louis Vuitton estore
Authentic Louis Vuitton boutiques (with a very small number of exceptions – boutiques in very high-end department stores)
On the eLuxury online store.

You typically won’t find Louis Vuitton offering their luggage through retailers, either discount stores or upscale department stores.

Finding Cheap Louis Vuitton Luggage

eLUXURY has a sale section where you can browse for items that are discounted or discontinued. Another way to find discount Louis Vuitton luggage is by asking a customer sales representative using the Live Chat feature on the site. You could also call their toll-free number and ask.

Another way to find cheap Louis Vuitton luggage is through people who are selling their old pieces. Search eBay, your local Craigslist, or other online second-hand sales sites for discount Louis Vuitton luggage. Most of these sites have a search feature that you can use to find the specific piece you are looking for.

Thoroughly inspecting items at yard sales in affluent and upscale neighborhoods might result in a super cheap Louis Vuitton luggage find as well. However, be sure you have enough knowledge to spot a real piece of luggage versus a fake or a replica. This will ensure you do not spend a small fortune on a “deal,” only to end up with piece of luggage that is not authentic.

Cheap Louis Vuitton Luggage on eBay

Like we mentioned above, eBay is a great place to find cheap Louis Vuitton luggage that is genuine. Check out these listings on eBay. You may find a genuine Louis Vuitton at an amazing price.

Have you ever been amazed at the unique ability of roller bladders to maneuver their way through a crowded sidewalk? It can be fun just to watch them; well, the technology in their wheels is what gives them that unique edge, and now those same type of wheels are found on luggage. The Samsonite Aspire Lite 21″ Expandable Upright Suiter bag makes good use of that technology, and the ease with which you can glide your suitcase across the parking lot and airport makes this case a true pleasure to travel with.

In addition to the cool wheel system that allows you to navigate like a pro, the Samsonite Aspire Lite 21″ Expandable Upright Suiter has a steel wire wrap frame that keeps all your belongings secure and safe. There is no need to worry about your shampoo bottle breaking open and spewing soap all over your new jacket. There is no way that bottle is going to break open.

The special pockets made just for shoes allow you to keep your sort of rugged-looking shoe bottoms away from your clothes, so your clothes do not get ugly black marks or dirt and grass on them. Your clothes will be just as clean when you open your suitcase, as they were when you put them in there.

The 21 inch size of the Samsonite Aspire Lite 21″ Expandable Upright Suiter is the perfect size. It offers just the right amount of room for enough stuff to get you through a 3-day travel adventure – whether you are getting away from it all for a long weekend or taking care of business for a couple of days. If you like to be sure all weather conditions are covered and want to bring along a light jacket or sweater, have no fear. The Aspire lets you put in a few extra items because it expands two inches. The design of this reasonably priced, attractive bag makes packing just the right combination of articles as easy as pie.

Inside the Samsonite Aspire Lite 21″ Expandable Upright Suiter, you will find x-shaped cross straps that are designed to keep your clothing items in place so they don’t slide all over the place during handling.
This is a time-tested, proven way to assist in keeping your clothes neatly pressed and avoiding wrinkles. Vacation is a time to avoid the iron and business trips are often too busy to worry about having to press your clothes, so the Aspire’s cross straps take that worry off your hands.

For a lightweight, nicely-handled, attractive bag that uses high-tech wheels to practically float across the floor, the Samsonite Aspire Lite 21″ Expandable Upright Suiter is the ultimate choice.

Summer is upon us and with it comes the season for travel. Whether your plan is to take several smaller trips to close-by locales, forge ahead with an all-out vacation blast, or take a short trip for business purposes, the Briggs & Riley Transcend 21″ Carry-On Expandable Upright is the perfect bag to meet all your needs.

Made of top-quality material, this stunning piece of luggage can make traveling a breeze. Even though the bag is puncture and tear-resistant, which will make it much more likely to keep your personal possessions safe from damage, it is still one of the most lightweight bags out there. Careening through an airport to catch a connecting flight or traversing across the parking lot to the rental cars is so much easier when the weight of the world is not dragging behind you. The lightweight durability of the Briggs & Riley Transcend 21″ Carry-On Expandable Upright makes the walking that is a huge part of any trip much more manageable.

In addition, the Transcend will keep its gorgeous good looks and protect your travel needs even in the harshest conditions. Nothing puts a damper on any trip quite like a thunderstorm, as travelers who choose soft-sided luggage fear the dampness and ensuing mold that is likely to invade their clothes when luggage gets wet. The Transcend, however, can put your mind at ease. It is so incredibly water repellent that rain just rolls right off onto the ground where it belongs. There is no need to worry about opening your suitcase and being overwhelmed by the smell of mildew. Briggs and Riley think of everything when it comes to choosing the best material out of which to create top-notch luggage.

The material makes handling a breeze, and the design of the Transcend makes packing a joy as well. There is no need to worry about your shoes messing up your white blouse, as there is a separate compartment made just for shoes, so your delicate, stain-prone clothes will not get all messed up from the black soles on your high heels. For even more protection for your clothes – the only ones you will have with you as you travel from home – the Expandable Upright Transcend offers panels inside that keep your clothes secure; when you get to your destination, you do not need to head straight for the ironing board because your clothes come out nice and wrinkle-free.

For ease of packing, great clothes protection, and a lightweight walk through the busiest airports, the Briggs & Riley Transcend 21″ Carry-On Expandable Upright simply can’t be beat.

So, what’s the best rated luggage overall ? If you ask 20 different people this question, you’ll get 20 different responses, which of course is natural, since each person’s needs and preferences are different when it comes to buying luggage.

However, to reduce the subjectivity when looking for the best rated luggage, Money Magazine carried out a field test in 2007 with 5 lightweight luggage bags to test their durability. The winner of the field test was the Eagle Creek Exploration System Tarmac 25″ Upright.

Eagle Creek bags have always been well-known for their durability. Here’s a short video, in which the Executive Vice President of Eagle Creek, Ricky Schlesinger takes you through a quick tour of the Eagle Creek luggage repair department and labs: Eagle Creek Quality video

The Eagle Creek Exploration System Tarmac 25″ Upright is made of the highly durable 1680D Helix Ballistic material, and has the following dimensions : 25″ x 17″ x 12.5″. The bag is lightweight, and weighs just 10 pounds.

The Eagle Creek Exploration System Tarmac 25″ Upright bag comes with a “No Matter What” damage repair policy. If your airline trashes the bag, Eagle Creek will still deal with it.

You can read user reviews of the 25″ Eagle Creek Exploration Systems bag at eBags : 25″ Eagle Creek Exploration Systems user reviews at eBags

However, if you’re interested in purchasing the bag, we recommend you get it at iRVS Luggage for just $254 (It’s $295 at eBags at the time of writing). Click here (or on the image below) to shop at iRVS.

If you have a different opinion as to what you think is the best rated luggage bag based on your own experience, feel free to leave a comment here. This will help other readers to make a better buying decision.

However, Eagle Creek is one of the very few luggage manufacturers that offers an unconditional lifetime warranty, which demonstrates their confidence in the quality of their products. In our opinion, the durable and sturdy Eagle Creek Exploration System Tarmac 25″ Upright bag is highly suitable if you travel often, and if your luggage undergoes a lot of wear.

Best Rated Luggage

Determining the best rated luggage is difficult, because this is a highly subjective area of comparison. Preferences for luggage varies widely among people, depending on such things as their own personal tastes, their physical capabilities, and their travel preferences. In order to come up with a list of the best rated luggage, it’s really necessary to interview different groups of people. You could then devise a list of the best rated luggage for senior citizens, for children, for campers, or for business travelers.

In order to determine the best rated luggage in each group that’s being asked this question, tests will need to be done on several brands. The more brands that are tested, the more definitive the results will be. Some basic things should be tested among all brands, such as weight, ease of transporting it, durability, space, and functionality. Once a good number of people from your test group have examined and used each brand of luggage, you can then ask them to say which brands they think are best, and why.

For example, elderly women may prefer luggage that’s lightweight, able to be moved around on wheels, and with many different zippered compartments inside for medications and toiletries. Campers may prefer heavy-duty luggage that can be strapped onto their backs and that can hold a lot of gear. Business travelers may want easily portable luggage with just room enough to hold a few days’ worth of clothing and a hair dryer. Pre-teen girls may declare that their favorite luggage is pink with sparkling unicorns on it.

Once a list of two to five top brands of luggage is compiled for each group, then manufacturers can market to those groups more effectively. Manufacturers may even make changes in their luggage designs based on what the test groups had to say. In this way, coming up with a list of the best rated luggage can be a very effective marketing tool.
